The standard door hanger size is 4.25" x 11" with a die-cut slot or hole at the top to hang on a door handle. This size is universally compatible with residential and most commercial door handles, and is the format used by the vast majority of door hanger campaigns across all industries.
The full finished size is 4.25" x 11". However, the top 1.5" contains the die-cut slot area and should be kept clear of critical text and logos. Below that, you have approximately 4.25" x 9.5" of usable design space on the front - and the entire back side is available for additional messaging, contact information, or offers.
Double-sided printing is strongly recommended for door hangers. When someone removes the hanger from their door, they naturally flip it over. The back side is your opportunity to include additional information - your full menu, a list of services, a coupon, your contact details, or a QR code. Leaving it blank is a missed opportunity at minimal additional cost.
A typical residential block has 20-30 homes. A single neighborhood of 10 blocks requires 200-300 door hangers. For a targeted local campaign, most service businesses start with 500-1,000 for their immediate service area.
