About 2-Part NCR Forms

2-Part NCR forms create an instant duplicate copy every time you write on the top sheet - no carbon paper, no photocopying, no extra steps. The top white sheet and the bottom yellow sheet are bound together as a set. When you write or type on the white sheet, the pressure transfers the information to the yellow copy beneath it simultaneously, giving you two identical copies of every transaction.

2-part forms are the most common carbonless form format used by businesses. They are the perfect solution for any transaction where one copy stays with the customer and one copy stays with you - invoices, receipts, service orders, delivery confirmations, contracts, and any document where a duplicate record is required on the spot.

2-Part vs. 3-Part NCR Forms

2-Part Forms

One Copy Each

White top sheet goes to the customer. Yellow bottom copy stays with your business. Simple, fast, and sufficient for most service and retail transactions.

3-Part Forms

Three Copies

White for the customer, yellow for the job file or technician, pink for the office or accounting department. Choose 3-part when multiple departments need their own copy.

Which to Choose

Our Recommendation

2-part is ideal for most small businesses, contractors, and service providers. 3-part suits businesses with separate field teams, management, and billing departments.

Frequently Asked Questions - 2-Part NCR Forms

What are 2-part NCR forms and how do they work?

2-part NCR forms are carbonless duplicate forms that produce two copies simultaneously when you write on the top sheet. The white top sheet is coated on its back with micro-encapsulated dye. When pen pressure breaks the capsules, the dye reacts with the clay coating on the front of the yellow bottom sheet to create a clean, permanent duplicate copy. No carbon paper, no messy transfer, and no photocopying required - the duplicate is produced the instant you finish writing. The white copy is typically given to the customer, client, or patient, while the yellow copy stays with your business as a permanent record. 2-part forms are the most widely used NCR format across virtually every industry.

What industries and applications use 2-part NCR forms most commonly?

2-part NCR forms are used across almost every industry that requires an immediate duplicate of a written transaction or record. Contractors and service companies use them for work orders and service agreements. Retailers and restaurants use them for invoices and receipts. Delivery and logistics companies use them for delivery confirmations and bills of lading. Healthcare providers use them for patient intake forms and referrals. Real estate professionals use them for rental agreements and inspection reports. Automotive shops use them for repair orders and estimates. Legal and financial professionals use them for client agreements and transaction records. Any business that needs to give a customer or third party an immediate copy of a completed document benefits from 2-part NCR forms.

Can I add my company logo, form fields, and sequential numbering?

Yes - everything on your 2-part NCR form is fully custom. Your logo, company name, address, phone number, website, and any brand elements are printed on the top white sheet in full color or black. All form fields - lines, boxes, checkboxes, signature areas, date fields, and instructional text - are included in your artwork and printed exactly as you design them. Sequential numbering is available and can be placed anywhere on the form. Specify your starting number and exact position when ordering. Sequential numbers are essential for tracking invoices, work orders, and receipts and for maintaining an auditable paper trail for your business records.

What sizes are available for 2-part NCR forms?

Standard sizes are 5.5" x 8.5" (half-letter, compact and easy to carry in a clipboard or folder), 8.5" x 11" (full letter, the most common size for invoices and work orders), and 8.5" x 14" (legal, for forms requiring more vertical space). Custom sizes are available on request. Contact our team with your required dimensions before building your artwork to confirm pricing and production availability for your specific size.

Should I order loose sets or pads with a wraparound cover?

Loose sets are collated and glued at the top edge and are best for desk and counter use where a stable writing surface is always available. Pads with a chipboard wraparound cover bind the sets in groups of 25 or 50 and include a protective cover that slides between sets as you write, preventing pressure from bleeding through to the forms below and providing a built-in writing surface. If your team completes forms in the field - on job sites, at customer locations, in vehicles, or anywhere without a clipboard or desk - the padded wraparound cover format is strongly recommended.

How long does production take and do you ship nationwide?

Standard production time is 3 to 5 business days from file approval, not including shipping transit time. Rush production is available - contact our team before ordering if you have a deadline. Yes, we ship finished 2-part NCR forms to any address in the contiguous United States from our Plainview, New York production facility. Standard and expedited shipping are available at checkout. All forms are packaged to protect the collated sets during transit.

Can I include terms and conditions on my 2-part NCR forms?

Yes. Terms of service, payment terms, warranty disclaimers, liability clauses, and any other legal language can be incorporated into your NCR form design. Service companies commonly include standard service terms on the back of the white top copy so customers receive the terms as part of their copy. Legal and contractual language can also appear on the front of the form in a smaller designated section. Our pre-press team will review your form layout to ensure all content is legible, correctly positioned, and within the printable area before your order goes to press.
