About Suede Presentation Folders

The Suede Presentation Folder is our most tactile, premium folder option - printed on heavy 16pt C2S cardstock and finished with a velvet lamination that gives every surface a soft, velvety texture that is unmistakable the moment it is touched. Where gloss and matte folders rely on visual impact alone, the suede folder adds a physical dimension that makes an impression before a single word inside is read.

Sized to hold standard 8.5x11 documents flat without folding, the 9x12 suede folder is the right choice for executive presentations, high-end client proposals, luxury brand kits, law firm and financial services packages, and any situation where the quality of the folder itself is part of the message. Available with your choice of pocket configuration, business card slit, and CD slit options.

What is Velvet Lamination?

The Feel

Soft, Tactile Surface

Velvet lamination - also called suede lamination - applies a thin matte film to the printed surface that creates a soft, cloth-like texture unlike any standard coating. The result is a folder that feels luxurious in hand - smooth to the touch, slightly warm, and noticeably premium. Recipients instinctively notice the difference the moment they pick it up.

The Look

Deep, Rich Colors

Velvet lamination produces deep, rich color reproduction with a non-reflective matte appearance. Unlike high-gloss coatings that reflect light and can wash out color in bright environments, the suede finish gives colors a more saturated, painterly depth that photographs beautifully and stands out in person.

The Impression

Premium Brand Signal

In a world where most marketing materials feel the same, a suede folder immediately signals a higher level of investment and attention to detail. For luxury brands, executive services, high-value sales environments, and any client relationship where perceived quality matters, the suede folder communicates brand standards before the conversation begins.

Durability

Scuff and Scratch Resistant

The velvet laminate film adds a protective layer that resists scuffing and everyday handling wear. Unlike uncoated stocks that show fingerprints and surface damage quickly, the suede surface is more forgiving through the repeated handling typical in sales environments, client offices, and conference settings.

Printed Side Options

Most Popular

Full Color Both Sides (4/4)

Full 4-color CMYK printing on both the outside cover and the inside panels, with velvet lamination applied to both sides. Best when your inside panels carry branded graphics, company messaging, a service overview, or contact details. Delivers a completely branded, premium experience from every angle when the folder is opened.

Mid Range

Full Color Front / Black and White Back (4/1)

Full color on the outside front cover combined with black and white printing on the inside panels. A practical option when the inside carries text-only content such as terms, service lists, or contact information that does not require color reproduction. Velvet lamination is applied to both sides.

Most Economical

Full Color Front / Blank Back (4/0)

Full color on the outside cover with inside panels left unprinted white. The most economical option - ideal when your folder will be filled with branded inserts that provide all the inside messaging. Velvet lamination is applied to the outside. The unprinted inside retains the natural feel of the laminated stock.

Pocket Configurations

1 Pocket - Left (Front) Side A single pocket on the left side of the open folder. Directs attention to one organized stack of inserts. Ideal for simple handout kits and presentations where the right side is reserved for a notepad, contract, or other document that does not need to be held by a pocket.
1 Pocket - Right (Back) Side A single pocket on the right side of the open folder - naturally where the eye travels first when a folder is opened. Works well for single-document presentations and proposals where all materials belong together in one organized pocket.
2 Pockets - Left and Right Dual pockets on both sides give you maximum organizational flexibility. Use the left pocket for company background and capabilities materials and the right pocket for the specific proposal or product information relevant to each meeting. The best choice for complete sales kits and high-end client packages.

Business Card Slit Options

No Business Card Slits No die-cut slit. Best when inserts already include contact information, or when a clean uninterrupted pocket is preferred.
On Both Pockets - Horizontal Horizontal slit on both left and right pockets. Card slides in from the side and sits horizontally. One card accessible in each pocket.
On Both Pockets - Vertical Vertical slit on both pockets. Card slides in from the top and sits upright, prominently visible above the top edge of your inserts.
On Left (Front) Pocket - Horizontal Horizontal slit on the left pocket only. Right side reserved for uninterrupted insert presentation.
On Left (Front) Pocket - Vertical Vertical slit on the left pocket only. Card sits upright and visible above the insert stack in the front pocket.
On Right (Back) Pocket - Horizontal Horizontal slit on the right pocket only. Ideal when the right pocket is your primary presentation pocket.
On Right (Back) Pocket - Vertical Vertical slit on the right pocket only. Card stands upright - the first thing a recipient sees when they open the folder.

CD Slit Options

A CD slit is a die-cut arc punched into the face of a pocket that holds a standard CD, DVD, or USB disc securely in place. The disc snaps into the slit and is held by the tension of the cardstock. Choose which pocket receives the CD slit or select no slit if you do not need this option.

No CD Slit No disc holder die-cut. Standard pocket configuration with no CD or DVD slot. Best when your materials do not include a disc, or when you prefer an uninterrupted pocket interior.
On Left (Front) Pocket A CD slit die-cut on the left pocket. The disc snaps into the arc-shaped slot and is held securely on the front interior panel. Ideal when your primary materials are on the right side and you want the disc prominently placed on the left.
On Right (Back) Pocket A CD slit die-cut on the right pocket. The disc snaps into the arc-shaped slot on the right interior panel. A popular placement for sales kits where the disc accompanies a proposal or product overview on the same side.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a suede presentation folder?

A suede presentation folder is a standard 9x12 presentation folder printed on 16pt C2S cardstock and finished with a velvet lamination - a thin soft-touch film applied to the printed surface that gives the folder a smooth, cloth-like, velvety texture. The suede finish is tactile in a way that standard gloss or matte coatings are not - it feels luxurious in hand and makes an immediate impression of quality and care. The folder holds standard 8.5x11 documents flat without folding and is available with your choice of pocket configuration, business card slit, and CD slit options. It is the premium tier of our presentation folder range, designed for businesses and professionals where the physical quality of the folder is an extension of the brand.

What is velvet lamination and how is it different from matte or gloss coating?

Velvet lamination - also called suede lamination or soft-touch lamination - is a film laminate applied to the printed surface after printing. Unlike aqueous (AQ) or UV coatings which are liquid coatings cured on the surface, velvet lamination is a physical film bonded to the paper. The result is a dramatically different tactile experience - the surface feels soft, warm, and cloth-like rather than smooth or shiny. Visually, velvet lamination produces deep, rich color with a non-reflective matte appearance similar to a premium matte coating, but the texture adds a dimension that no liquid coating can replicate. Matte and gloss coatings feel like coated paper. Velvet lamination feels like something fundamentally different - which is why it commands attention and signals premium quality so effectively.

What is a CD slit and how does it work?

A CD slit is a die-cut arc punched into the face of a folder pocket that holds a standard CD, DVD, or Blu-ray disc securely in place without any additional hardware or adhesive. The disc is pressed into the arc-shaped slot and held by the natural tension of the cardstock against the outer edge of the disc. To remove the disc, you simply flex the pocket slightly and lift it out. CD slits are available on the left pocket, the right pocket, or not at all. They are useful for sales kits, multimedia presentations, software distributions, or any situation where including a disc alongside printed materials is part of the package.

Will velvet lamination affect my colors?

Velvet lamination has a slight color-softening effect compared to gloss printing. Because the laminate film has a matte, non-reflective surface, colors will appear slightly less vivid than they would with a gloss UV coating but richer and deeper than standard matte. Heavily saturated colors such as deep blues, burgundies, and blacks tend to look particularly stunning under velvet lamination. We recommend building your design with this in mind - avoid very light pastel colors that may appear washed out, and lean into rich, deep brand colors that benefit from the laminate's depth. If you have questions about how specific colors will reproduce, contact our prepress team before submitting your file.

What printed side option should I choose?

Full Color Both Sides (4/4) is the most popular choice for suede folders because it maximizes the impact of the velvet lamination on every surface the recipient sees or touches. If budget is a consideration, Full Color Front / Blank Back (4/0) gives you the full premium outside presentation with an unprinted interior, which still works well when your inserts provide all the inside messaging. Full Color Front / Black and White Back (4/1) is a mid-range option when the inside panels carry text-only content. In all configurations, the velvet lamination is applied to ensure the tactile experience is consistent on the surfaces that are handled.

How do I set up my artwork file for a suede presentation folder?

Suede folders are printed flat as one large sheet and then laminated, scored, die-cut, and folded into their finished shape. Your artwork file must be built at the full flat die-line size, laying out the front cover, back cover, and interior panels as a single flat layout. Include 0.125 inches of bleed on all outer edges. Keep all text and logos at least 0.125 inches from trim edges and score lines. Files must be in CMYK color mode at 300 DPI minimum resolution in PDF, AI, EPS, or high-resolution TIFF format. Contact us before starting your design to request a free die-line template matching your exact pocket, business card slit, and CD slit configuration.

What is the turnaround time for suede presentation folders?

Turnaround for suede presentation folders is 4 business days from the date your approved print-ready file is received and confirmed. Because suede folders require velvet lamination in addition to printing, scoring, die-cutting, and folding, they require a slightly more involved production process than standard presentation folders. Turnaround time begins the next business day after file approval and does not include shipping transit time. If you have a firm deadline, contact us before placing your order to confirm that the production and shipping timeline meets your requirements.

What paper stock are suede presentation folders printed on?

Suede presentation folders are printed on 16pt C2S (Coated 2 Sides) cardstock. This is our heaviest presentation folder stock - thicker and more rigid than the 14pt C2S used for standard folders. The extra thickness gives the folder a noticeably substantial feel in hand that complements the premium velvet lamination finish. C2S means both surfaces are coated, which ensures sharp, vivid printing on both the outside and inside panels. The velvet laminate film is then applied over the printed surface to create the final suede texture.

Can I get a die-line template before starting my design?

Yes, and we strongly recommend requesting one before you begin. Contact our prepress team and we will send you a free die-line template matching your exact pocket configuration, business card slit selection, and CD slit placement. The die-line shows the trim lines, fold and score lines, pocket flap areas, business card slit position, and CD slit arc overlaid on the full flat canvas so you can design with complete accuracy. This is especially important for suede folders because the velvet lamination makes any misalignment or white edge more visually noticeable than on a standard coated folder.

Do you ship suede presentation folders nationwide?

Yes. We ship finished suede folders to any address in all 50 states from our Plainview, New York production facility. Standard and expedited UPS shipping options are available at checkout. Shipping transit time is in addition to the 4 business day production turnaround. For time-sensitive orders, select expedited shipping at checkout and confirm your required in-hands date with our team before placing your order so we can ensure the combined production and shipping timeline meets your deadline.
